If you were to ask me what my favorite mid-volume office paper shredder is, I would have to answer with the Destroyit 2604 from MBM. This paper shredder is one of the most solid machines I have used and I personally use it to shred my own documents. Having used this shredder for over a year now, I can attest to its excellent build quality, reliability and value. We were able to shoot a video demo of it about a week ago.

There are many reasons why Destroyit shredders are considered to be the best office paper shredders. As mentioned earlier, the build quality is unprecedented. I have used paper shredders from China, Korea the USA and many other places and German shredders continue to be my favorite.

The build quality on this shredder is amazing. The cabinet is made from solid wood construction and the shredder head features sound insulation, thermal protection and hardened steel blades. The cabinet is easy to access, the bin is easy to empty and the entire shredder sits on casters, making it easy to wheel around the office. I can see 6-8 people being able to use this thing through the day without any problems.

You can buy the 2604 in a cross cut or a strip cut design. The Level 3 cross cut is my personal favorite as it brings added security (tinier particles), yet still has a nice 20-22 sheet cutting capacity. I would like to mention that this shredder is fast.

The bin on this shredder is 26 gallons, which means it will hold a lot of paper. I especially like the automatic oiler. While oiling a shredder is important, it is extremely easy to forget to do it. The auto oiler on this shredder keeps things lubed at all times. A few of the features include:

• Automatic reverse and power cut-off (avoids paper jams)
• Automatic power cut-off when shred bin is full or when cabinet door is opened
• “ESM” (Energy Saving Mode) after 1 hour of inactivity

A professional and customer-oriented business will use a paper shredder when handling sensitive documents. A good reliable office shredder should meet a few solid requirements. This includes reliability, high sheet capacity, a good security level and the ability to shred paper on a continuous basis. If you’ve read any of my paper shredder reviews, you probably know that I am a huge fan of Destroyit paper shredders. I have personally used dozens of different paper shredders and the German engineered Destroyit paper shredders continue to do exactly what I need. The MBM Destroyit 2404 is available in two different designs. This includes a strip cut and a cross cut model. While the cross cut version is by far the most popular, the strip cut is still a great shredder. The biggest differences between the two are the sheet capacity and the security level.

MBM Destroyit 2404 Sheet Capacities:

• 2404 Strip Cut: 19 to 22 sheets of paper at a security level 2 (3/16″ wide strips).
• 2404 Cross Cut: 9-11 sheets of paper at a security level 3 (3/32″ x 5/8″ particles).

The Destroyit 2404 features a 9 ½” wide opening for paper. This is wide enough to handle envelopes, letter-size and legal-size documents, receipts and much more. It can even be used to shred wider computer forms paper if they are first folded in half. The powerful ¾ horsepower motor doesn’t stutter, handling fed paper with gusto.

This shredder is extremely easy to operate. The “Easy Switch” rocks back and forth to turn the shredder on, put it in reverse and turn it off. A series of color codes and backlit symbols let you know exactly what’s going on.

The Destroyit 2404 is almost completely automated. A built-in photo cell detects paper, turning the shredder on and off by itself. Sensors also let you know when the bag is full and the door is open. For a deskside shredder, these features are all welcome.

One of my favorite features of the Destroyit 2404 is the large 13-gallon shred bin. This is a fairly large and significant capacity for a deskside shredder. This means fewer bag changes for you.

The shredder itself is made from high quality components. This includes hardened steel cutting shafts that are covered by a lifetime warranty. The shredder head sits in a noise absorbing wooden cabinet that sits on casters and the gars are all enclosed in a dust-proof housing, which significantly extends the life of the shredder. The motor is thermally protected for continuous use (no need to worry about overheating).

In conclusion, I have to say that the Destroyit 2404 (Cross Cut or Strip Cut) is a great choice for use in the office. While it is a deskside shredder, multiple people can easily use it throughout the day. I highly recommend this shredder.

The Destroyit 3104 uses a strong hardened steel cutting shaft that can easily handle staples and paper clips without suffering any damage. It can also be used to not only shred paper, but credit cards, DVDs and CDs as well. MBM is so confident in the cutting shafts that they are covered by a lifetime warranty.

The control panel on the Destroyit line of shredders, including the Destroyit 3104, is one of the easiest-to-use available today. IF you look at the picture, you will see a large round button. MBM calls this the “Easy Switch.” You can run pretty much every operation on this shredder from that button. It tilts to turn the shredder on or put it in reverse and built-in backlit symbols let you know the status of the shredder. This includes when the cabinet door is open and the bag is full.

The throat on this shredder measures in at 12″, which is more than enough for most paper, forms and documents. The sheet capacity on this shredder is 22-25 sheets at a time, which is impressive for a level 3 cross cut shredder. Once shredded, paper is turned into tiny 3/16″ x 1 1/2″ (4 x 40 mm) particles. A large 32-gallon bin holds the shredded paper, which is pretty large. This means fewer bag changes for you!

Overall I have to give this shredder a solid 5 out of 5 stars. I am confident you will enjoy this shredder. It should provide you with years of reliable use.

MBM Destroyit (known as IDEAL in Europe) have been making shredders for decades. One thing remains constant, their shredders are considered to be some of the best in the industry. Shredder designs and styles range from home office up to industrial shredding. The Destroyit 3804 is one of the latest additions to this tradition.

The MBM Destroyit 3804 cross cut shredder encompasses pretty much everything I would want in a paper shredder. Let me start with capacity. This shredder hits high capacities on just about every level.

To begin with, the Destroyit 3804 has a massive 44-gallon shred bin. Consider the fact that most cars have a 15-25 gallon gas tank. This shredder can hold about double that amount in shredded paper. This means much fewer bag changes for you and makes it possible for multiple people to use this shredder without the “Bag Full” indicator always being on.

Another “capacity” feature of this shredder is the wide capacity shredder throat. This machine can shred paper up to 16″ wide. That means you can shred a lot of small stuff or larger computer forms. Not only can you feed paper into this beast, but it can also handle shredding credit cards and CDs and will accept staples and paper clips without a hitch.

The next feature that impresses me is the speed. While the Destroyit 3804 cross cut already has an impressive 20-22 sheet shredding capacity, it can shred that paper at a speed of 20 feet per minute. That means you can shred over a football field’s length of 20-20 sheets in an hour. That’s just plain fast.

Also consider the fact that this shredder cuts paper down to a Level 3 security level, which is the most sought-after security level for office paper shredding. That means the Destroyit 3804 CC cuts paper into 3/16″ x 1 1/2″ (4 x 40 mm). Break out a ruler and measure that out. Small….right? You aren’t putting that back together.

Shredding speed, capacity and security all make this shredder perfect for departmental and centralized office shredding. Now let’s cover the “dependability” part of this review.

While I love stuff made in the USA, I have complete respect for German products. German shredders are THE benchmark when it comes to office paper shredders. From the hardened steel blades to the twin drive single-phase motor, this shredder is designed for heavy-use.

Even the motor has been thermally protected for continuous use. You will never have to wait 30 minutes for the motor to cool down with a Destroyit paper shredder.

In summary, you can do much better than a Destroyit paper shredder, and the Destroyit 3804 cross cut is one of the best options you have for office paper shredding. The build quality is excellent, it is reliable, secure and very fast. I use Destroyit shredders here at ABC Office and love them.

Today I was frequenting a PC blog I like to read called PC Pro out of the UK. Today they had an article about hard drive destruction and they posted a video of them destroying a 185GB IBM Deskstar hard drive. As soon as they mentioned the machine they were using I got excited. They were featuring an Destroyit (IDEAL) 0101 HDP hard disk destroyer. As you may know, I’m a huge fan of Destroyit.

To begin with, for all you computer geeks out there, the model name alone is pretty cool (0101). Speaking of binary code, my wife thinks I’m a pretty big nerd because I have a binary clock I use at home. I’ll have to discuss that one in a later article. Anyway, back to the Ideal 0101. I had not previously heard about this model, but the video is very impressive. Let me explain.

The Destroyit (Ideal) 0101 HDP hard drive destroyer uses a metal punch that exerts between 2.5 and 3 tons of force. HDP stands for hard drive punch.This punch drives through either a 2.5″ or 3.5″ hard drive, rendering them useless. According to PC Pro, that is enough force to lift a truck. Once the drive is pierced, the drive is dropped into a bin for later disposal.  The green light used in the drive slot has an otherworldly glow to it.

If I were to be asked which paper shredder I would personally like to have next to my desk for daily office shredding, I would have to say that one of my personal choices would be the MBM Destroyit 2270 cross cut paper shredder. This shredder comes from a long line of quality shredders, is made in Germany and is relatively compact. This is my review.

While paper shredders may not be the most exciting topic in your list of daily conversations, I have literally worked with them for over 10 years. Over those 10 years, I have come to appreciate paper shredders for their engineering and technological sophistication. There are a lot of paper shredders available today, and while they all do the same thing, the differences between different models are almost as stark as night and day.

The MBM Destroyit 2270 is technologically innovative, due in part to the German roots of this shredder. From the ground up, this shredder has been built to handle most jobs thrown at it. While it is a deskside shredder, designed for use by one person, it can be used continuously without a hiccup.

Rather than trying to accommodate a paper shredder blade for other uses, Destroyit has incorporated two separate feed openings in conjunction with two separate cutting heads. One opening is used for paper, measuring in at 8 ¾” wide, and the other is designed to shred CDs, DVDs and credit cards. This ads a huge degree of versatility to the shredder. The hardened steel blades on the paper shredder opening are tough enough to handle paper clips and staples.

One huge concern with any paper shredder is safety. You’ve probably heard the horror stories of babies getting their fingers caught in shredders or dogs getting their tongues cut off. Put those fears to rest. The Destroyit 2270 utilizes several safety features. This includes a transparent safety shield in the feed opening that only allows paper to be fed through. The shredder also turns off when the cabinet door is open.

The actual use of this shredder is fairly easy. You’ll notice on the picture of this shredder that there is only one switch. You can turn the shredder on, off or throw the motor into reverse. When on, the 2270 uses a photocell to detect paper, which in turn activates the motor. It is very easy to operate.

The build quality on the MBM Destroyit 2270 is excellent. Just try lifting the shredder head off of the cabinet. It is tough to do, in large part thanks to the heavy-duty materials used in the Destroyit 2270’s construction. The entire shredder, including the bin, weighs in at 32 pounds.

Design plays a huge roll in my purchasing decisions. I know this shouldn’t always be the case, but you want your shredder to look nice. The Destroyit 2270 is a great looking machine. The clear window on the waste bin looks classy and lets you know how full the shredder is.

Overall, if the budget allows, I would highly recommend the Destroyit 2270 for your deskside office use. This is a solid, reliable and relatively quiet shredder. I give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Remember, however, that it is really only designed for individual use.

Do you need a compact and affordable Level 6 paper shredder for office or business use? Most Level 6 shredders are large and a bit of an investment. One affordable option is the Destroyit 2360 SMC Level 6 paper shredder, designed for top secret and high security shredding. This is my review.

Level 6 shredders provide the highest level of confidential shredding available. Particles have to fall within a 1mm x 4-5mm range, which is extremely tiny. These types of shredders are extremely popular with government entities, the military and for many businesses. Destroyit is known for making some of the best high security shredders available.

The MBM Destroyit 2360 SMC (Super Micro Cut) is not only a Level 6 paper shredder, but is also DOD approved, adhering to the most strict NSA / CSS specifications. Break out a ruler and try to grasp this size. The Destroyit 2360 SMC cuts a sheet of paper into 0.8 x 5 mm particles. That is literally thousands of pieces of paper. This is why the 2360 SMC is perfect for high security shredding.

Now that you have an idea on why you may want to use the 2360 SMC, let me go into the build quality. This shredder is German engineered and built. I say this because this shredder is night and day difference from the competition when it comes to durability and quality. The cutting shafts used in this shredder are made from hardened steel and carry with them a one-year warranty. The gears are made from high-quality material and are fully enclosed in a dust-free environment, prolonging the life of the shredder.

The 9 ½” wide throat on this shredder can handle 5-7 sheets of paper at a time. You may say to yourself, “Only 5-7 sheets? That doesn’t seem like much.” You need to remember the complexity of the cutting shaft used in this shredder. A lot of force and engineering complexity is required to cut a sheet of paper into 0.8 x 5 mm particles.

The smaller the cut, the fewer the amounts of sheets the shredder can handle. For the price, and the security level, 5-7 sheets isn’t bad. Be aware that this shredder is fast. Once you feed it 5-7 sheets, you will be ready to feed another stack in just seconds. This shredder uses a photo cell to detect paper and will automatically start shredding as soon as paper is detected.

The control panel on the 2360 SMC is very user friendly. Destroyit has managed to integrate pretty much all the controls into one button that they call the “Easy Switch.” This large round switch lets you turn the shredder on and reverse the motor. It also includes lights, color codes and backlight symbols to let you know what is going on at all times.

An office shredder should have the ability to be used throughout the day, right? The Destroyit 2360 SMC utilizes a thermally protected motor that allows it to be used continuously throughout the day, without the need to “cool down.” The single-phase motor is also insulated in a way that it is very quiet while in use.

In conclusion, I have to say that if you have the need for light to medium-volume high-security shredding, you won’t be disappointed with the MBM Destroyit 2360 SMC. This shredder looks great, is easy to use and gets the job done right.

Do you need a departmental paper shredder capable of handling some of the toughest jobs? Do you need something that is centralized that can be used by multiple people in an office environment throughout the day? If so, you probably need a shredder like the MBM Destroyit 4005 paper shredder. This is my review.

Let me provide you with a little background on Destroyit paper shredders. To begin with, Destroyit shredders aren’t typically found in your local department store. This is because Destroyit paper shredders are considered high-end pieces of machinery, opposite to the cheaper plastic shredders you’ll find in local stores. Destroyit shredders are German engineered and German made.

The Destroyit 4005 is a tough shredder, designed from the ground up for departmental use. It comes in three different versions, one strip cut and two cross cut variations. The version you use will depend on the shredding capacity your office needs and the security requirements of your business.

The strip cut version is a Level 2 shredder and the cross cut shredders are Levels 3 and 4. The higher the level, the smaller the particle cut. As the security level goes up, you are able to shred more sensitive material, but usually at a decreased capacity. You’ll notice that the Level 2 version shreds 50-52 sheets at a time and the Level 4 shreds 18-20 at a time.

All three of these shredders feature thermally protected motors that allows them to be used throughout the day without the need to cool down. All three of these shredders also feature the ability to handle paper clips, staples, CDs and DVDs. The wide 16″ opening handles most sheets of paper.

Not only does the Destroyit 4005 have a high shredding capacity, but it is also very fast, taking just seconds to shred paper. As soon as you feed paper into it you are ready to feed it more. As mentioned earlier, this shredder is designed from the ground up to be a departmental workhorse.

One thing I personally like about the Destroyit 4005 is the control panel. Destroyit calls it the “Easy Switch.” It is essentially a button that uses color codes and backlit symbols to help navigate you. It also lets you know the status of the shredder at all times.

A series of load indicator lights let you know how much stress is being put on the motor at all times, which makes it easier for you to determine how much paper you can feed it without manually counting the sheets prior to shredding. In the unlikely event of a jam, this shredder will reverse out the paper and cut off the power. This prevents damage to the motor.

The Destroyit 4005 features a 40-gallon shred bin, a high-quality wooden cabinet and is extremely easy to empty. After one hour of inactivity, the 4005 goes into ESM (Energy Saving Mode), which is designed to save on electricity.

Simply put, this is a great shredder to use in an office by multiple people. The build quality is excellent, the chain driven dust-proof gear box housing is solid and this should easily keep up with just about everything you throw at it. I highly recommend this shredder.

Be aware that the Destroyit 4005 does require a dedicated 20-amp line for power.
