Topaz SigLite SL T-S461 1X5 Signature Capture Pad Review

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Topaz SigLite SL T-S461 Electronic Signature Capture PadAre you in need of an effective and legal way to capture a patient, customer or client signature? One great way to do this is by using an electronic signature capture pad. One model that our customers like, and you may want to consider using, is the Topaz SigLite SL T-S461 1×5 signature capture pad. This is my review.

To begin with, the Siglite SL line of electronic capture pads is designed to be compact and easy to set up. The SL actually stands for slim, measuring in at 0.20″ thick. These signature capture pads typically connect to a computer via a USB or traditional serial port.

The T-S461 has a 1″ x 5″ capture area that is large enough to accept most signatures. As the signature is made, the T-S461 captures that data and sends it to the computer. This particular signature pad is typically used with Adobe Acrobat PDF documents and MS Word documents.

The SigLite SL T-S461 includes a software plugin that allows it to be used with Adobe Acrobat and MS Word (currently up to MS Word 2007). It can also be used with a wide variety of other programs including Excel, Access, Notes and Domino, HTML, Java, ASP, VB, VC++, Delphi, Images, Crystal Reports, etc.

We also offer several software tools (found here) that allow the T-S461 to be integrated into your existing hardware / software.

The resolution on the T-S461 is impressive. The surface of this pad can capture up to 410 points of data per inch. These signatures, and the included software, make it possible to capture legally binding signatures that can be applied to contracts, agreements, legal documents and much more.

The screen of the T-S461 is designed to capture up to 10,000 signatures. This means the SigLite T-S461 is ideal for medium-volume use. If you need more than 10,000 signatures, you may want to consider going with the SignatureGem line of signature capture pads that are rated for high-volume use and can capture up to 250,000+ signatures during its lifespan.

Overall the T-S461 is a solid and very affordable signature capture pad that can be used for most electronic signature projects. The quality is as good as it gets. Depending on the use and volume of signatures, this pad should last for years.

Pharmacy Signature Capture Pads & Pen Tablets

Pharmacy Signature Capture PadWe’ve all been to a pharmacy to pick up a prescription. What you may have noticed over the last 10 years is that more pharmacies are implementing digital signature capture pads. These pads allow customers and patients to digitally sign for their prescriptions. This creates less paperwork for the pharmacy and makes data easier to organize and manage. So what types of signature capture pads do pharmacies use?

One of the most common pads used today are those made by Topaz. Topaz signature capture pads are especially popular for use with pharmacies because they can be integrated into just about any system. This is due in part to the open architecture used by Topaz and the fact that developer kits are free and readily available.

Our line of Topaz signature capture pads are not only a hit with Pharmacies, but also with the medical industry in general. This is because Topaz signature pads can be used to put signatures in MS Word and Adobe PDF documents.

So what type of Topaz signature capture pad do most pharmacies use? There are 3 types of pads that seem to have become a huge hit.

  1. Standard Non-Inking Signature Pads - These are your basic signature pad. They are easy-to-use, capture the signature in seconds and are designed to last. The Topaz SigLite 1×5 is a good example of a standard non-inking signature pad.
  2. Self-Inking Signature Capture Pads – A self-inking signature pad is a pad that displays your signature as you sign the pad. This makes it easy for the customer to orientate where they are on the pad in relation to their signature. The SignatureGem 4×5 is a great example of a self-inking digital signature pad.
  3. LCD Backlit Signature Capture Pads - Backlit signature capture pads are often self inking. This makes the signature easy to see and are ideal for use in dark rooms. The SigLiteLCD 1×5 and the SignatureGem LCD 4X3 are great examples of LCD signature capture pads.

Ultimately the digital signature pad used will depend a lot on the signature pad size, durability, location and technology required by the pharmacy. You can find our entire selection of signature capture pads here.

Digital Signature Capture Pads and Adobe Acrobat

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Topaz Signature Capture PadsI have had several people ask me recently if our Topaz line of signature capture pads (SigLite and SignatureGem) are able to put a signature in Adobe Acrobat. My answer is an emphatic yes. Our Topaz signature capture pads easily capture and insert the image into an Adobe Acrobat form (PDF Document).

How is this done? Our signature capture pads (by Topaz) include include an Adobe plug-in that makes it possible to add fields and signatures safely and securely. Once installed, the plug-in actually adds tools right into Adobe Acrobat, making PDF creation and editing easy.

Our Topaz signature capture pads can also easily be used with Microsoft Word, Excel and many other programs. They are also compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

Many of our customers like to use our signature capture pads for the signing of contracts, creation of documentation and more. A few weeks ago I wrote an article about using a Topaz signature capture pad at my local DMV for adding a signature to a driver’s license. They have many uses and can be integrated with many programs.
