MBM Triumph 4850 Electric Stack Paper Cutter Review

MBM Triumph 4850 Programmable Electric Stack Paper CutterDo you cut large volumes of paper on a daily basis and need a fast and precise way to do this? If you aren’t using one already, you should consider using a programmable electric stack paper cutter. One model that you may want to consider is the MBM Triumph 4850 electric stack paper cutter (found here). This is my review.

To begin with, MBM Triumph is considered by many to be one of the largest stack paper cutter manufacturers in the world. These stack cutters, by Ideal, are German made and engineered. The build quality is considered to be exceptional and the customer satisfaction with our own customers is extremely high.

Here are a few specifications on the Triumph 4850. To begin with, it has a cutting width of 18 7/8″ and is capable of cutting up to 3″ of paper in a single pass. This is a lot of paper, making the 4850 capable of cutting an entire ream of paper. This includes standard paper, card stock, chipboard and much more.

Setting this stack cutter up for use is extremely easy. An easy-to-use 10 keypad makes adjusting the backstop a piece of cake. The 4850 has a programmable memory capable of storing up to 99 different jobs. A digital readout lets you know exactly where the backstop is, for easy adjusting.

Measurements are in Inches or Centimeters and are accurate to 1/10 mm or 1/100 inch. From start to cut, it shouldn’t take you more than a minute to have everything ready to go.

One thing I really like about this cutter is the LED optical cutting line. This line will let you know exactly where the blade is going to come down. I find this nice when cutting printed material. While the backstop is precise, sometimes printing registration isn’t always dead on, making the cutting line invaluable.

The Triumph 4850 electric clamp and an electric cutting blade. The clamp can be brought down by itself prior to cutting or be brought down along with the cutting blade. This is all done by pressing a series of buttons. Once the blade has been started, it takes just seconds for the 4850 to cut through 3″ of paper.

I have already mentioned this earlier, but the build quality on this cutter is exceptional. It weighs in at 556 pounds shipped. All the cutting components are made from metal and it is designed to last for years. The Solingen steel blade is extremely tough, but can also be re-sharpened when it becomes dull. The 3/5 HP motor doesn’t flinch and cuts paper without any issues.

Safety shouldn’t be a concern. Anything that could possibly cause injury is covered and protected during the entire cutting process. Safety features include:

  • Hinged, transparent electronically controlled front safety guard
  • Transparent safety cover on rear table
  • Main switch and safety lock with key
  • Electronically controlled, true two-hand operation

I have to say that if you have medium to high-volume stack paper cutting needs, this is a great paper cutter to have. This cutter should be perfect for print shops, copy centers and more.
