Carl HC-72 Heavy Duty 3-Hole Paper Punch Review

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Carl HC-72 Heavy Duty 3 Hole Paper PunchThree-hole paper punching is one of the most common office activities, just below stapling. This is because many businesses use 3-ring binders to store and organize material. The only problem is that a lot of 3-hole paper punches out there are complete garbage, with many breaking simply by punching a few too many sheets of paper. If you need an ol’ reliable type of paper punch, you need the Carl HC-72 3-hole paper punch (found here). This is why.

To begin with, the Carl HC-72 looks great. It features a stylish multi-colored design. It is light enough to be used on any desk, yet heavy-duty enough to handle most 3-hole punching jobs. The HC-72 has several advantages.

The Carl HC-72 uses a solid beam handle that is leveraged in such a way that paper punching is easy and effortless. In fact, the HC-72 is capable of punching up to 72 sheets of standard 20lb paper per pass. This makes hole punching jobs easy and fast.

Many cheep molded sheet metal hole punches bend and break when punching too many sheets of paper. The HC-72 features all-metal construction that allows this hole punch to slice and dice paper without suffering any ill effects. Simply put, it is one of the most solid 3-hole paper punches out on the market.

Have you ever used a 3-hole paper punch only to discover that the last 2-3 sheets of paper don’t punch? This is annoying, can cause problems and simply shouldn’t happen. The Carl HC-72 utilizes special cutting disks that ensure that even the last sheet of paper is effectively punched.

Another annoying feature of many standard 3-hole punches is that they quickly become dull and usually have to be thrown away. The HC-72 uses specially hardened punching dies designed to hold up well with continued use.

If for any reason one of the punching dies becomes dull, replacement punching heads may be purchased and used to replaced the dull head. This saves you money and cuts down on waste.

Overall I consider the Carl HC-72 to be a solid office 3-hole paper punch ideal for use in the office, in schools, in churches and other organizations. For the price, the value can’t be beat.

You can find the Carl HC-72 3-hole paper punch here. You will find our entire selection of office paper hole punches here.

Acroprint ATRx Secure PunchIn Biometric Time Clock Review

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Acroprint ATRx Secure PunchIn Biometric Time Clock SystemBiometric time clocks are quickly becoming a favorite for businesses around the world. This is because biometric time clocks save time, simplify payroll and cut down on fraud. If you are in the market for a system, you should consider using the Acroprint ATRx Secure PunchIn biometric time clock system (found here). This is my review.

Acroprint is almost synonymous with employee, digital and biometric time clocks. This is because Acroprint is a pioneer in the time attendance industry, with most of their products quickly becoming customer favorites. Acroprint products in general are known for their quality, ease-of-use and affordability.

The ATRx Secure PunchIn from Acriprint is a popular system for our customers. The price is affordable and includes both hardware and software. This time clock consists of a fingerprint reader that connects to a computer. Attendance Rx (included) is then loaded onto the computer, which logs entries.

Data stored on the computer can then be used for creating reports and for payroll purposes. Time saved by using the included software is amazing, especially when compared with logging data from traditional “punch” style time clocks.

Installation of the ATRx Secure PunchIn is extremely easy. The fingerprint reader is connected to a computer via a USB 1.0 or 2.0 port. The ATRx Secure PunchIn includes a quick start guide that should have you up and running in a matter of minutes.

Biometric time clocks have many benefits. One of the biggest benefits is the ability these systems have to cut down on time clock fraud. Employees have to be physically present to punch in and out of a biometric time clock system. This pretty much eliminates the most common time clock fraud known as buddy punching.

The base package that comes with the basic ATRx Secure PunchIn system is capable of being used with up to 50 employees. Software upgrades are available that will allow this system to be used with up to 250 employees.

The ATRx Secure PunchIn system is also available in a network-capable system. This system allows multiple fingerprint scanners to be installed around the office for convenience. All this data is synched across the network. This type of system is ideal for larger companies and organizations.

Overall I consider the ATRx Secure Punchin system from Acroprint to be a solid system. Considering it has a one-year warranty and complete reliable support from Acroprint, I would recommend this time management system for just about any business.

You can find the Acroprint ATRx Secure PunchIn biometric time clock system here. You can find our entire selection of employee time clocks here.

David-Link K-6300 / K-6200 Digital Watchman’s Clock Review

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

David-Link K-6300 & K-6200 Digital Watchman Clock / Security Guard Tour SystemDoes your business or organization employ security guards that need to make specific rounds around a building or property? One of the most popular and common ways to keep tabs on these guards and ensure they are making their rounds is by using what’s commonly known as a watchman’s clock or a security guard tour system. One great model you should seriously consider is the David-Link K-6300 (found here) or K-6200 watchman guard tour system (found here). This is my review.

To begin with, both the K-6300 and K-6200 systems are very affordable, easy to set up and are tamper proof. Very little set up is required. The only difference between the K-6300 and K-6200 is that the K-6300 includes a built-in LED flashlight.

First of all, stations are set up around a property or building. The K-6300 and K-6200 include 5 stations. These watchman’s stations can easily be mounted to a wall. This David-Link watchman’s system also includes watchman’s clock management software, a USB cable, battery, battery charger and a manual.

The security guard carries a baton-like reader that is very similar in size and design to a small flashlight. As the security guard makes their rounds, this reader is held up to the station. The reader syncs up with the station wirelessly and records time and date information. This data can then be pulled off and read using the included watchman’s software.

Data stored on the reader cannot be manipulated or tampered with. The reader is also capable of storing up to 7,000 events. This data is stored digitally on the reader, and even if the battery on the reader dies, that data can be stored up to 30 years. The baton reader is water resistant, temperature resistant and shock resistant.

The entire system is pretty remarkable. Considering the cost, the David-Link K-6300 and K-6200 watchman’s guard systems are a great value. If you have a security guard group you need to monitor, I personally think this is a great system to use.

You can find the David-Link K-6200 here and the David-Link K-6300 here. You can find our entire selection of watchman’s clocks and employee time clocks here.

Top 10 Best Letter Folding Machines

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Letter Folding Machines from ABC OfficeDo you fold letters on a daily basis? Folding paper by hand can be a miserable, boring and time-consuming job. It wastes time and costs money. Most employees can be more of a benefit doing other things. Whether you fold a few dozen or a few thousand a day, you can probably benefit from using an automatic letter folding machine. So which machine should you get?

Letter folding machines are designed, primarily, to create a C fold (aka Letter Fold). Paper that is letter folded is usually done so with the intention of being mailed. Many letter folders, although not all, can be set up to create other folds as well. Most letter folding machines are capable of creating hundreds of folds an hour, with many capable of creating thousands of folds an hour.

Example Of A Letter Fold (C Fold)

With literally dozens upon dozens of different machines out there, it can be a little tough to get the “right” letter folding machine. Having worked with and sold to thousands of customers, I have come up with a list of “solid” machines that should get the job done for you.

What Is The BRE Feeder On A Folder Inserter?

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Formax Envelope Stuffing MachinesI recently had a customer ask me what BRE was. Initially I was a little confused as to what they were talking about. They then went on to tell me that they were looking at a Formax inserter & envelope stuffer and saw that some of the Formax machines had a BRE feeder.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I knew what a BRE was, I just wasn’t familiar with the acronym. The abbreviation BRE stands for Business Return Envelope. As soon as I read that I thought, “oh yeah, I know exactly what that is.”

You probably know what I am talking about. BREs are those small little envelopes that often say “no postage necessary” on them, that are included in a larger envelope. BREs are often used for renewing a magazine subscription, for applying for a credit card and many, for bills and many other mailers.

BRE Business Reply Envelopes

Many of our Formax envelope stuffing machines have multiple feed trays. Some inserters include a tray that is a little smaller, which can be used to insert BRE envelopes and small inserts. Simply place your paper in the feed tray, along with a stack of business reply envelopes, and the Formax folder inserter will do the rest.

The entire folder inserter process is remarkable to see in action. The amount of time and money saved using an automatic folder inserter is remarkable, especially compared to manually doing the work. Folding and inserting machines will probably dramatically cut back on your stress as well.

While not all our folding and inserting machines have BRE insert trays, many do. Our product pages will specify whether or not they have a BRE insert tray. If you are having trouble finding a machine with a BRE insert tray, call us at 1-800-658-8788 and one of or mail equipment specialists will help you track down a few models.

Pharmacy Signature Capture Pads & Pen Tablets

Pharmacy Signature Capture PadWe’ve all been to a pharmacy to pick up a prescription. What you may have noticed over the last 10 years is that more pharmacies are implementing digital signature capture pads. These pads allow customers and patients to digitally sign for their prescriptions. This creates less paperwork for the pharmacy and makes data easier to organize and manage. So what types of signature capture pads do pharmacies use?

One of the most common pads used today are those made by Topaz. Topaz signature capture pads are especially popular for use with pharmacies because they can be integrated into just about any system. This is due in part to the open architecture used by Topaz and the fact that developer kits are free and readily available.

Our line of Topaz signature capture pads are not only a hit with Pharmacies, but also with the medical industry in general. This is because Topaz signature pads can be used to put signatures in MS Word and Adobe PDF documents.

So what type of Topaz signature capture pad do most pharmacies use? There are 3 types of pads that seem to have become a huge hit.

  1. Standard Non-Inking Signature Pads – These are your basic signature pad. They are easy-to-use, capture the signature in seconds and are designed to last. The Topaz SigLite 1×5 is a good example of a standard non-inking signature pad.
  2. Self-Inking Signature Capture Pads – A self-inking signature pad is a pad that displays your signature as you sign the pad. This makes it easy for the customer to orientate where they are on the pad in relation to their signature. The SignatureGem 4×5 is a great example of a self-inking digital signature pad.
  3. LCD Backlit Signature Capture Pads – Backlit signature capture pads are often self inking. This makes the signature easy to see and are ideal for use in dark rooms. The SigLiteLCD 1×5 and the SignatureGem LCD 4X3 are great examples of LCD signature capture pads.

Ultimately the digital signature pad used will depend a lot on the signature pad size, durability, location and technology required by the pharmacy. You can find our entire selection of signature capture pads here.

Best Brochure Paper Folder / Folding Machine

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

Intelli-Fold DE-102AF Paper Folding MachineDo you need to fold brochures, but don’t know exactly where to start? While you can always fold a brochure by hand, machines are available that will get the job done in literally a fraction the time. These machines are paper folding machines. There are three ways you can create brochures with a folding machine.

Top Brochure Folding Methods

The first and most popular way to create a brochure is by using a letter fold. This is often referred to as a C fold. This makes literature easy to view, while maintaining a compact layout.

This is an example of a letter (C) fold:

C Fold (Letter Fold)

The second most popular way to create a brochure is by using an accordion fold. This is often referred to as a Z fold. Much like a letter fold, an accordion fold makes brochure easy to open, easy to mail and easy to display.

This is an example of an accordion (Z) fold:

Z Fold (Accordian Fold)

The third most common fold used for making brochures is the double parallel fold. This fold has a unique look to it and creates a very compact brochure.

This is an example of a double parallel fold:

Double Parallel Fold

While most folding machines can create a letter fold or an accordion fold, not all machines can handle a double parallel fold. Most folding machines will specify the types of folds they can handle, making it easier to find the right machine.

Space-Saving Tips: Rotating Brochure Holders & Revolving Magazine Racks

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Revolving / Rotating Book Displays, Brochure Holders & Magazine RacksAre you looking for a way to get your literature maximum exposure while taking up as little space as possible? If this sounds like a situation similar to what you need, you may want to consider a revolving / rotating literature rack. This may be for books, brochures or magazines. Here are a few reasons why.

To begin with, revolving and rotating display racks have a very small footprint. They typically don’t take up more than 4 to 9 square feet of floor space. This is ideal for retail stores, libraries, comic book stores and others that need valuable floor space for other material and products.

The revolving design of a rotating literature rack allows a lot of material to be contained in a small space. Because the footprint is small, much of the display area is gained by height and rack design. A revolving rack makes it possible to see up to 3-4 times more material than a standard freestanding or wall-mounted rack.

Revolving brochure holders, magazine racks and book displays come in a variety of shapes and designs. This includes floor models and tabletop designs. Most revolving literature holders are made out of heavy-gauge wire, although some desktop models can be found made from plastic / acrylic. While most come in black, several are available in different color options.

Here are a few of our most popular revolving / rotating literature racks:

  1. R WIREworks 24PPCR Tabletop Revolving Book Display – Saves space and allows you to display books from a checkout counter or a table.
  2. R WIREworks 3284SR Revolving Book Display – Perfect for displaying books for retail sale.
  3. Safco 4324GR Metal Revolving Magazine Display – Contemporary way to display magazines in a lobby or waiting room.
  4. R WIREworks 32GNSR Revolving Comic Book Display – A popular new addition, which has become a hit with comic book dealers.
  5. R WIREworks 46SR Revolving Children’s Book Display – Perfect for use in a school, a library or a bookstore.
  6. Safco 5696CL Tabletop Revolving Plastic Brochure Holder – Great for displaying literature from the convenience of a table or desk.

Need A Dynafold? Consider An Intelli-Fold.

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Intelli-Fold Paper Folding MachinesAre you looking for a paper folding machine and have been considering a DE-102AF, a DE-202AF or a DE-322AF? Before you consider getting a Dynafold, I highly recommend you consider the Intelli-Fold line of folding machines from Intelli-Zone. There are several reasons for this.

To begin with, Dynafold paper folders have been around for some time and have established a great reputation. While currently available Dynafold paper folders have since moved manufacturing plants (perhaps in an effort to save on building costs), Intelli-Fold paper folders are still made in the original manufacturing plants using the same high-quality process.

If cost is an issue, you may want to consider the Intelli-Fold line. Intelli-Fold paper folders almost always cost less than Dynafold paper folding machines.

Dynafold and Intelli-Fold paper folders are so similar that parts can actually be swapped between models. Here is a quick guide to help you determine the Intelli-Fold equivalent of a Dynafold folding machine.

Dynafold to Intelli-Fold Guide

Dynafold DE-102AF –> Intelli-Fold DE-102AF
Dynafold DE-202AF –> Intelli-Fold DE-202AF
Dynafold DE-322AF –> Intelli-Fold DE-322AF
Dynafold DE-262AF –> Intelli-Fold DE-262AF
Dynafold DE-302AF –> Intelli-Fold DE-302AF
Dynafold DE-8 –> Intelli-Fold DE-8

Intelli-Fold paper folding machines are customer favorites and some of our best-selling paper folding machines. The build quality is excellent, they have a great track record and folds continue to be clean, crisp and extremely professional.

I personally recommend using Intelli-Fold for all your folding needs. They can be used to create letter folds, accordion folds, single folds and a wide variety of custom folds. These machines are easy to setup and should easily last you for years to come.
