ABC Office now sells typewriters for the 21st century.

Friday, June 29th, 2007

TypewritersAlthough you may be surprised to hear people are still using them, ABC Office has just added a new line of typewriters to its Web site. These new typewriters are from the popular manufacturer Royal. Although typewriters may seem a little archaic to modern standards, many businesses and people still use typewriters to fill forms, documentation and write reports. To help facilitate this continuing need, ABC Office has added a total of six new typewriters.

Typewriters were commonly used during the 20th century for most documentation. Typewriters were clumsy, frustrating and difficult to use. Documents were re-typed to fix spelling errors and alignment was a problem. With the invention of the computer, many thought this would mean the end of typewriters.

These new typewriters have built-in spell checkers, LCD screens, memory and computer processors. These new typewriter capabilities and functions eliminate errors and save a lot of time for those who still need a typewriter. Many schools, lawyers’ offices, government entities and businesses still use typewriters. Royal typewriters are helping facilitate these organizations. Stop by our site and take a look at the new addition.

ABC V-10 Bill CounterAs many of you may already be aware, about seven months ago we decided to add our own manufactured line of money counters to ABC Office. We started of with three bill counters and one coin counter. These money counters have become a big hit, so we have added two new bill counters to the lineup.

These two new counters are the ABC V-30 and the ABC V-10. Both of these models are more compact than previous models and are designed for maximum mobility.

The ABC V-10 includes counterfeit detection measures that can scan the UV (ultraviolet), MG (magnetic) and WM (watermark) properties of a bill, making it easy to scan and count money. This new model, although small, can count up to 600 bills per minute and is light enough (1.5 pounds) to be transported from one business or location to another.

The  ABC V-30 is highly portable and is designed purely to count bills. It is small enough to fit in a purse or bag and is great for counting money at a variety of events. It is one of the few money counters that weighs in at less than a pound. It can even run off of batteries if needed.

Come take a look at our new money counters for yourself!

Security equipment has changed significantly over the past decade with the invention of the DVR.

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Here at ABC Office we have traditionally sold office automation equipment and supplies. One thing you may not be aware of is that we also specialize in security equipment as well. Products include anti-theft devices, metal detectors, camera systems and more. One of our biggest selling pieces of security equipment are our DVR recorders.

DVR recorders are capable of digitally recording security video fed to them from security camera systems. Traditional VHS-style recorders are decreasing in popularity as DVR or Digital Video Records bring the ability to record more video at a higher resolution. This data is not only clearer, but itis also very easy to review the video.
DVR Security Recorder
Traditional VHS-style recorders utilized a multiplexer to help organize multiple security cameras for recording. Most DVR recorders have multiplexers built in for convenience. Many DVR systems are capable of recording hundreds of hours of video and eliminate the need of a tape. Video outputs make it easy to
transfer video to a tape if needed.

You can see our entire selection of DVR security recorders by going here. Take a look and order your DVR recorder today!

ABC Office now has its own brand of money counters.

ABC1150 Money CounterWe have been selling money counters, coin counters and counterfeit detectors for years now and have seen the demand increase. Due to this success we have decided to manufacture our own brand of money counters
& money handling equipment. These new line of counters carries the brand ABC and are available in several models. Because we manufacture the money counters ourselves, we can pass the production line savings on to you.

Two of the new products are bill counters, designed to quickly count bills in seconds. These models are the ABC1150 and ABC5500. Both models are available with counterfeit money detectors built inside. When a
counterfeit bill is detected, the machine alerts the user to the problem. Both these new money counters can be found here.
ABC440 Coin CounterThe third new addition is the ABC440 coin counter. This coin counter can take hands full of coins and quickly sorts them and gives you a total monetary and denominational total. Banks, retailers and other
organizations that handle money on a daily basis commonly use it. The ABC440 brings ABC Office’s total line of coin counters to six.

The last two new products that ABC Office manufactures are counterfeit money detectors. These models are the ABC-75 and the ABC-95. Both these units use UV light to detect security strips found in most U.S. bills. They also have magnetic sensors capable of detecting magnetic ink found in U.S. currency. A built-in light makes it possible to see watermarks as well. These new counterfeit detectors can be found here.

Counterfeit money continues to be a growing problem.

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Counterfeit Money DetectorsWe recently brought out several counterfeit money detectors to see how effective they were against fake currency. We tested out money from local businesses and banks. We also threw in a few sheets of blank paper.

The counterfeit detectors did their job and were able to decipher real from fake. This is especially hard with today’s technology.

Copy machines, high-resolution printers, scanners and more can make it easy to copy money. Criminals can use just about any personal computer to try and copy bills. Many bills appear legitimate and may be difficult to verify with the naked eye. Counterfeit bill detectors use a variety of methods to verify money.

The three most common types of counterfeit detection methods are UV (ultraviolet), WM (watermark) and MG (magnetic). UV detectors have a dark light that makes built-in features in tangible currency light up and appear yellowish green. Watermark detectors have a built-in light that allows users to see watermarks such as a face. MG detectors detect magnetic ink that is in U.S. currency. When a bill is slid over the MG detector, a light or other indicator will let the user know if it is authentic or fake.

The pen detector is another widely used device. It uses a chemical solution that uses coloration to determine bill authenticity. Magnifying glasses are also a great way to pick out minute details that a printer can’t easily reproduce.

Many criminals are bleaching five-dollar bills and printing 50 and 100-dollar denominations on the paper. This makes the bill feel real and will even pass through some counterfeit detectors. It is recommended to use a detector that implements several detection methods or a combination of several counterfeit detectors.

You can see all our counterfeit detectors by going here.

Digitally record sounds and speeches with a voice recorder.

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Digital Voice RecordersWe recently added three new digital voice recorders to our Web site. These recorders are used to capture sound, speeches, conversations and even phone calls. These new voice recorders are the equivalent for recording sound as the digital camera is for capturing images. These recorders store the audio, some up to 65 hours that can later be transferred to a computer for editing or later note taking.

Digital voice recorders are commonly used by students, doctors and lawyers for recording interviews, speeches and more. Rather than having to worry about a tape, all the data is stored digitally in the recorder that can later be stored to a computer and burned to a CD. Tapes tend to lose their integrity over time. Digital data will retain its integrity for years. Tapes limited to a small amount of space, usually ranging 20 to 90 minutes. The sound quality with digital recorders is far better than traditional analog tapes.

A wide variety of businesses and professions prefer to use voice recorders. Doctors will record medical findings, students will record class lectures and private investigators/reporters will use them for gathering data. These are just a few examples. A built-in speaker, or included headset, lets you listen to previous recordings on the spot.

Digital voice recorders are very compact, and do not need to make space for a cassette tape. They can easily in a purse or pocket. A phone attachment makes it possible to record conversations for investigational work or for preserving memories. You can see ABC Office’s entire line of digital voice recorders by going here.

ABC Office announces addition of Formax paper shredders.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

Formax Control PanelWe are very excited about the addition of eight new Formax paper shredders to our lineup. We have sold Formax products for years. You may have heard of their popular folder inserters and paper folders. Due to our success in the paper shredder industry, we have been given almost exclusive distribution privileges.

We have had several Formax products set up on our display floor and I have had the chance to play around with the Formax FD8600CC. The first thing I noticed is how quiet the shredder is. The sound of the actual paper being shred is louder than the motor on this shredder. I have never heard a shredder so quiet. Because the Formax shredders are so quiet, they are perfect for use in areas where people are working. Compared to these shredders, comparable shredders sound like lawn mowers.

The shredders are made from durable solid metal. The menu on these shredders are very well laid out and easy to read. The mid to high-level shredders include a load indicator that let you know how much stress is being put on the motor. This helps you know whether or not you are putting too much paper into it. Putting the appropriate amounts of paper into a shredder will help prolong the shredder’s life.

I would highly recommend taking a look at the new shredders. If you are in need of a new shredder, you should try one of these out. I’m confident you’ll love it!

Have you heard about the new ten-dollar bill?

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

This month the United States is circulating a new ten-dollar bill through commercial banks to try and combat of the United States, while keeping you from falling victim. The majority of the new ten-dollar bill’s features will remain the same as before.

The new ten-dollar bill has added the words “We the People” in red text. The font is that found on the U.S. constitution. The new bill will also feature two red Statue of Liberty torches. The new bill is designed to prevent counterfeiters and help protect the currency. The new currency began circulating March 2, 2006.

Distinguishing real bills from fake can be difficult. Printers and scanners are now able to product high-quality prints that can make counterfeit money appear to be real. Because counterfeiters are using high-tech means to copy money, businesses need to use high-tech means to combat this problem.

The new ten-dollar bill incorporates several “visual” methods of detecting counterfeit money. These are three methods easily seen with the naked eye:

  • First is a security thread. The thread goes the entire width of the bill and states USA TEN along with
    small flags.
  • Second is a watermark of Alexander Hamilton’s head that can be seen when held to light.
  • Third is color-shifting ink. This can be found in the lower-right corner of the ten-dollar bill. The color  will shift from copper to green, depending on the angle it is held.

These are the most important counterfeit detection methods used today:

  • The first is UV (ultraviolet) detection. UV counterfeit detectors have a dark light that makes built-in features in tangible currency light up and appear yellowish green.
  • The second is MG (magnetic). MG detectors detect magnetic ink that is in U.S. currency. When a bill is slid over the MG detector, a light or other indicator will let the user know if it is authentic or fake.

ABC Office continues its efforts to try and help educate businesses and individuals regarding counterfeit money problems. ABC Office has an online fraud prevention guide that can be accessed here. To see the different types of counterfeit detectors that are currently used by banks and businesses, please go here.

ABC Office adds Fellowes paper shredders to their already large line of shredders.

Fellowes Paper ShredderSince working for ABC Office, I have seen the demand for paper shredders grow significantly over the past several years. To help keep up with demand, we have increased our shredder line by adding the popular Fellowes brand paper shredders to our site. A total of 21 new shredders have been added. While all the shredders can handle paper, many of the new models can shred CDs, DVDs, credit cards and more. Come take a look at our new selection of Fellowes shredders by going here.

FellowesDocument shredding is one of the most important ways you can protect your identity. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) states, “To thwart a thief who may pick through your trash or recycling bins to capture your personal information, tear or shred your charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks and bank statements, expired credit or charge cards that you’re discarding, and credit offers you get in the mail.

Dave expresses his feelings regarding the newest Akiles binding machines.

Akiles Binding MachinesI have worked with binding machines and office equipment for the last five years. I have worked with a variety of entry-level office equipment. As with just about anything, some models of binding machines are more durable and last longer than others. This is to be expected with entry-level office equipment vs. high-end office equipment.

A few months ago we brought in some of the newer Akiles binding machines from our warehouse to our showroom floor. We brought in about three different wire binding machines, two coil and one comb. I decided to shoot a few video demos to help give customers a better idea as to how they work. After a few
weeks of shooting videos and training people I discovered that these binding machines aren’t your usual run of the mill products.

The first thing I noticed is how heavy they are. They aren’t so heavy you can’t more them, but they are heavy
enough to let you know they are built well. Because they are made out of metal, they are very durable. For the cost, I would definitely go with an Akiles WireMac, CoilMac or MegaBind over any plastic comparable models. The punching was very clean and setting the machines up was even easier. The booklets I bound on all the machines looked very professional.

I would highly recommend viewing these products and checking out the broadband video demos available on several of the models. I am in the process of getting broadband demos available for the MegaBind comb binding machines. All these machines are made by Akiles. You can request a live video demo on all these models and receive one-on-one training from one of our sales associates. You can find these new binding machines by going here:
