Why YOU Should Use a Paper Jogger

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Paper JoggersIf you work in an office environment, work in a church or teach at a school, you probably deal with paper on a regular basis. This may involve stapling, paper folding, book binding, paper cutting and much more. One annoying thing about paper is that it gets jumbled quickly, whether from moving around, coming off the copy machine or printer. One tool that WILL make your life easier is a paper jogger.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many time I have had to manually bounce and jog paper on a table prior to inserting it into a folding machine or binding machine. If you don’t get the process done right, you end up with jammed machines or poorly bound documents (misaligned holes). Paper joggers take this paper and square it up for you in just seconds.

Paper joggers are very simple in concept. They typically have some sort of motor inside that vibrates at thousands of vibrations a minute. This motor causes a tray to move around quickly, casing the vibrations (along with gravity) to square up paper.

Here in the office we use the Premier Jog-Fast (Model 400) paper jogger on a regular basis. It literally takes seconds for me to jog an entire ream of paper.

I have also used paper joggers for helping dry ink after printing in a digital duplicator. Some paper joggers utilize air in some format during the jogging process to quicken the drying process even more. Paper joggers are also good for removing static electricity from printed or copied paper.

So which paper joggers do our customers like to use?

  • Martin Yale Jog-Fast (Model 400) Paper Jogger
  • Lassco LJ-2 Paper Jogger
  • These two models are very popular with our customers because the are designed for use with 8 ½” x 11″ paper and the are both affordable. I can vouch, from personal experience, that Martin Yale (Premier), Lassco and Formax all make some of the best paper joggers available on the market.

We also offer multi-bin paper joggers for jogging multiple reams of paper at a time. We also sell paper joggers for large paper, flat bed paper joggers and open paper joggers. You can find our entire selection of paper joggers here.

In conclusion, I have to say that I can’t imagine handling paper on a daily basis without using a paper jogger. If you haven’t considered using one, at least stop by our site and see what we have to offer. Feel free to speak with one of our paper handling specialists by calling 1-800-658-8788.

Formax FD 402E2 Envelope Jogger Review

    Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Formax FD 402E2 Envelope JoggerIf your work in a mailroom, you are probably well aware of the mess and problems unorganized and jumbled envelopes can cause. While you can grab envelopes and try to bounce them on a table to align them up, this can be time consuming and frustrating. One great way to organize and align envelopes is to use a machine like the Formax FD 402E2 envelope jogger (found here). This is my review.

There are currently two major manufacturers of paper joggers. One is Lassco-Wizer and the other is Formax. I consider both to be reputable brands and great products. Formax currently makes about 4 different models.

When it comes to paper joggers, the Formax FD 402E2 is very unique. This is because it isn’t really a traditional paper jogger, but rather is designed to jog envelopes and letters. This would primarily be in a mailroom environment. It is also capable of jogging checks, statement stubs and much more

The FD 402E2 features 2 jogging slots, capable of holding up to 1,750 sheets of 20# paper up to 4″ W x 9.5″ L in size. This isn’t bad, and considering how fast this jogger works, it shouldn’t take you long to have everything jogged and in order.

So why would you need an envelope jogger? In mailroom environments, letters can arrive in boxes, bags, carts and other containers. These letters and envelopes are usually a mess, however, they will eventually need to be opened.

As you might imagine, most mailrooms use high-speed letter openers. Before the envelopes can be fed into the letter opener, the need to be jogged. This helps to prevent jams and ensures quick and seamless letter opening. This same jogger can be used to jog and organize envelopes after they have been run through a letter opener as well.

The Formax FD 402E2 uses a very powerful motor, vibration at 4,000 vibrations per minute. This is fast, which in turn results in very fast jogging results. The vibration speed is completely adjustable. You can expect a stack of envelopes to be fully jogged in less than 10 seconds. The electromagnetic design of the FD 402E2 allows the motor to run continuously throughout the day without suffering any ill effects.

Overall I have to say that the FD 402E2 is a solid envelope jogger and is definitely a must-have product for busy mailrooms. As is the case with most Formax products, the build quality is exactly where it should be.

You can find the Formax FD 402E2 envelope jogger here and our entire selection of paper joggers here.

Formax FD 402P1 Paper Jogger Review

    Monday, March 28th, 2011

Formax FD 402P1 Paper JoggerDo you print hundreds to thousands of documents a day? Do you bind hundreds of books, cut thousands of sheets of paper per day or letter fold paper for mailing purposes. If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be in need of a paper jogger. One great model you should consider is the Formax FD 402P1 paper jogger (found here). This is my review.

As paper leaves a printer or copy machine, the sheets are often jumbled and disorganized. If for any reason you have to feed this paper into another machine, cut it or even bind it, you will need to jog the paper back into a manageable stack. This is the reason paper joggers exist and they can save literally minutes of time over manually jogging paper. Minutes quickly become hours when you are handling large volumes of paper. Joggers are also ideal for cutting down and eliminating static electricity.

Formax, a leading manufacturer of folding machines, pressure sealers, paper shredders and other office equipment, currently manufactures several different paper jogging machines. All of their paper jogging machines are designed for commercial, continuous and daily use.

The FD 402P1 is an angled paper jogger designed for handling paper up to 11″ x 17″ in size. While it can be used with larger paper, it can also easily be used with smaller 8 ½” x 11″ paper and many other sizes.

    Formax FD 402P1 Video Demo

The motor on the FD 402P1 is powerful, making it possible to jog paper in just seconds. A large knob, located on the front of the machine, allows you to adjust the intensity of the motor. At maximum speed, the motor shakes at 4,000 vibrations per minute. This makes it easy to adjust the Formax FD 402P1 to work with whatever type of paper you are jogging. This can be card stock, copy paper, glossy paper, coated documents and more.

Paper tends to create a lot of dust. Dust accumulation can cause all sorts of problems with machinery such as collators, paper folding machines, pressure sealers and more. The FD 402P1 actually has slotted clean-outs that allow dust to be removed from stacks of paper during the jogging process.

Weighing in at 28 pounds, the FD 402P1 is an extremely durable machine, however, it is light enough to be used on most desks, tables and surfaces. As far as joggers are concerned, it is relatively quiet.

I have to say that the build quality on the FD 402P1 is exceptional. It should be able to keep up with the most laborious and rigorous jobs thrown at it.

You can find the Formax FD 402P1 paper jogger here and our entire selection of paper joggers here.

    Lassco LJ-4 11″ x 17″ Electric Paper Jogger Review

    Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Lassco LJ-4 Electric 11" x 14" Paper JoggerAre you in need of a paper jogger, but need something that can handle anything from business cards up to 11″ x 17″ paper? If so, you may want to consider the Lassco LJ-4 electric paper jogger (found here). This jogger is ideal for use with larger paper. This is my review.

Lassco-Wizer manufactures a wide variety of electric paper joggers. These paper joggers are generally considered to be some of the best on the market. This includes standard letter-size joggers, multi-bin joggers and much more.

The LJ-4 paper jogger is in a class of its own. This is because not only can it job letter size 8 ½” x 11″ paper, but it can also jog an entire ream of 11″ x 17″ paper. Most joggers cannot do this without some sort of assistance. This is due to the size of the jogging table.

If you look at the table, you will notice that it is tilted at about a 45 degree angle. This is ideal for keeping larger paper in place. The size of the jogging table is also large enough to handle the longer paper. The table itself measures in at 17″ x 17″.

You will notice in the picture that the table has two semi-circles cut out of it. This has been done for your convenience. Once an 11″ x 17″ stack of paper has been jogged, the semi-circle cutout makes it extremely easy to grab the jogged paper and remove it from the machine.

Just because the LJ-4 has a large jogging table doesn’t mean it can’t jog smaller documents. This jogger will easily jog smaller documents, letter-size paper and much more.

The motor on the LJ-4 is tough, as is the case with all Lassco paper joggers. The motor on this jogger operates on a 115 volt current at 60 hz / 2.2 amps. The motor vibrates at a speed of 1550 revolutions per minute (RPM).

Once you place a stack of paper in the LJ-4, the paper is jogged and squared up in just seconds. This is especially ideal for printing presses, copy shops and other businesses that handles stacks and reams of paper on a daily basis.

The construction on the LJ-4 is exceptional. I rate the LJ-4 a 5 out or 5. Few paper joggers, especially in this size, come close to this quality.

Lassco LJ-6 Multi-Bin Paper Jogger Review

    Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Lassco LJ-6 Multi-Bin Paper JoggerIf you run a printing press or work for a business that handles a lot of paper on a daily basis, you may have the need for a high-capacity paper jogger. One model that has become a hit with our customers is the Lassco LJ-6 multi-bin paper jogger (found here). This is my review.

Lassco-Wizer makes some great products. They range from corner rounders and paper drills to numbering machines and paper joggers. Their line of paper joggers are considered to be some of the best. Lassco paper joggers are used in businesses around the country.

The LJ-6 is a unique type of paper jogger, because it has multiple bins. A total of four bins makes the LJ-6 one of the highest-capacity paper joggers available today. These bins can be used to hold paper, envelopes, checks and other material. Each of the four bins is 4″ wide.

One thing that may not come across in the picture is the build quality. The LJ-6 is made from tough metal components and features an excellent build quality. It weighs in at 30 pounds, which gives you an idea on how hefty it is. Although hefty, it is still light enough to be used on most desks and tables.

By design, and thanks to a great build quality, the LJ-6 can be used all day long without flinching. This means if you deal in heavy-volume printing or paper handling, this jogger can be used without any cooldown period or picky service requirements. Just plug it in and you’re up and running.

Once plugged in, place your paper in each of the bins and flip on the front switch. This switch activates the 1550 rpm motor. In just a few seconds jumbled paper will be squared-up and organized.

In conclusion, I have to say that the Lassco LJ-6 is a great choice for high-volume and high-capacity paper jogging needs. It is very popular with our customers and has an excellent track record.

You can find the Lassco LJ-6 multi-bin paper jogger here. You can find our entire selection of paper joggers here.

Lassco LJ-2 Electric Paper Jogger Review

    Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Lassco LJ-2 Electric Paper JoggerAre you looking for a paper jogger that will handle paper, letters and other documents? If so, you may want to consider looking at the Lassco LJ-2 electric paper jogger (found here). This is my review.

Paper joggers do such a simple process, yet remain so important when it comes to copying, cutting, binding and more. I used a paper jogger just yesterday to help align paper that came off a digital duplicating machine prior to cutting the paper down on a stack paper cutter. What would have taken me a minute or two took maybe 10 seconds on a paper jogger.

The Lassco LJ-2 is one of our most popular paper joggers, right along side the Model 400 paper jogger. This is because the LJ-2 is simple, compact and very easy to use. It can be placed on pretty much any table or counter. You will find the LJ-2 in print shops, mail rooms, copy centers and more.

The LJ-2 paper jogger runs on electricity, (150 volts / 60 hz / 2.2 amps). A motor inside the machine causes the LJ-2 to quickly vibrate, helping to align jumbled and disorganized paper. The motor runs at 1550 RPMs per minute. This is pretty fast and extremely accurate.

The opening on the Lassco LJ-2 is big enough to handle an entire ream of 8 ½ x 11-inch copy paper or half a ream of 11 x 17-inch paper. It can also be used to jog checks, envelopes, brochures and other literature.

If you bind books, cut paper, staple paper or copy paper on daily basis, you should seriously consider using a paper jogger. Prior to working at ABC Office (about 10 years ago), I had no idea what a paper jogger was. Now I can’t imagine working with paper handling machines and not having a jogger on hand.

I consider the build quality of the LJ-2 to be exceptional. This should come as no surprise. Lassco-Wizer makes some of the best-quality office machines out there. If you need a paper jogger, this is definitely one of the models that I would personally recommend.

You can find the Lassco LJ-2 electric paper jogger here. We are currently offering free shipping on the LJ-2. You can find our entire selection of paper joggers here.

Martin Yale “Jog-Fast” Model 400 Paper Jogger Review

    Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Martin Yale Jog Fast Model 400 Paper JoggerJumbled, messy and disorganized paper makes just about everything more difficult. Whether you are trying to cut, bind or fold paper, a paper jogger will make your life easier. One model you may want to consider is the “Jog-Fast” Model 400 paper jogger from Martin Yale (found here). I use this paper jogger all the time and this is my review.

To begin with, this jogger is referred to as the Jog-Fast and the Model 400. They are one in the same. Standard calls it the Jog-Fast and Martin Yale calls it the Model 400. They both come from the same factory.

This model has been around for years, including the 10 I have been with ABC Office. It has been time tested and the thing just works (and well at that). I personally use it jog paper that comes off of our digital duplicator for later binding and cutting.

Simply plug the jogger into a wall, (110-120 volt) put the disorganized paper in the bin and flip the switch on. The Model 400 does the rest. It only takes 10-20 seconds to completely align the paper. The paper is vibrated and jostled around so quickly you can hear the paper bouncing off the bottom of the tray. Once done, turn the switch off. It’s that simple.

The Martin Yale Model 400 can hold a full ream of 8 ½ x 11 paper, so it is easy to jog a LOT of paper at a time. The motor, the construction and the design allow the Model 400 to be used all day long without any issues.

Weighing in at 20 pounds, the Model 400 “Jog-Fast” can be easily moved around from one room to another. The rubber feet are designed in such a way that they keep the jogger stationary. This prevents the jogger from moving around the table while in use.

While the Model 400 isn’t designed for use with larger 12 x 18 sheets of paper, I highly recommend it for 8 ½ x 14 or smaller paper. It works well and will easily give you years of trouble-free use.

You can find the Martin Yale “Jog-Fast” Model 400 paper jogger here. You can find our entire selection of paper joggers here.

New Formax FD 402A1 Paper Jogger Now Online

    Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

The name “paper jogger” brings some pretty funny images to one’s mind who is not familiar with the equipment. The concept is simple, but it saves you so much time. A paper jogger, simply put, is a machine that squares up and organizes jumbled stacks of paper. Why use a paper jogger? Because paper needs to be properly aligned before being bound, folded, cut and more.

We are very happy to announce the addition of the Formax FD 402A1. This paper jogger is made to handle some heavy-duty stuff. You could say the FD 402A1 is a commercial (industrial) paper jogger. Not only does it jog paper, but it also uses air to more quickly jog paper and dry out ink.

This jogger has its own base, which means it doesn’t need to be set on a table or other surface. This helps free up space, especially for print shops where space is limited. A few of the features this jogger has are variable speed control, foot pedal operation and casters for easy movement.

Stop by our site and take a look at the new Formax FD 402A1 paper jogger today!
