Akiles CoilMac-ECI 4:1 Coil Binding Machine Video Demo

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Akiles CoilMac-ECI 4:1 Coil Binding MachineWhen shopping around for a coil binding machine, you more than likely want to get the best machine for your money. While we would all like a fully automated machine, budgets often do not allow for such luxuries. One great compromise is a semi-automated coil binding machine with an electric coil inserter. One such machine is the Akiles CoilMac-ECI 4:1 coil binding machine. I recently had a chance to play around with one.

If I were to come up with a top 5 best coil binding machines list, the CoilMac-ECI would easily be one of the top two models. To begin with, the CoilMac-ECI is a solid coil binding machine. It is made from durable metal construction. While the punching is manually done, coil insertion is done via an electric coil inserter that spins coils through punched holes.

The coil inserter on the CoilMac-ECI isn’t a puny or scaled back. It runs almost the entire width of the machine, powered by a powerful motor. Many cheaper machines with inserters use low-quality motors. Everything used to build the CoilMac-ECI appears to be of the highest grade quality.

The CoilMac-ECI is now also available in a “Plus” version. The CoilMac-ECI Plus is pretty much the same machine as the standard CoilMac-ECI with the only differences being that the “Plus” punches oval holes instead of round holes and features disengaging punching pins on all the punching dies. Both machines are of equal quality.

As mentioned earlier, I had a chance to use the CoilMac-ECI. We ended up shooting a video of it, which you can find here:

As you can see, the end results look extremely professional. You can use the Akiles CoilMac-ECI to bind booklets, cookbooks, reports, presentations and much more. It is an extremely versatile machine. It literally only takes a few minutes, from start to finish, to complete a booklet.

I recommend this machine for use in schools, churches and businesses. Having sold these machines for years, I can vouch for the fact that the CoilMac-ECI has an excellent track record. You won’t be disappointed.

Akiles CoilMac-EPI 4:1 Coil Binding Machine Video Demo

Akiles CoilMac-EPI 4:1 Pitch Electric Coil Binding MachineAre you coil binding books on a daily basis, perhaps hundreds of books a day? For this many books, reports or presentations, I recommend using a robust machine like the Akiles CoilMac-EPI coil binder. This coil binding machine is popular, well built and a huge hit with our customers. I have had the opportunity to use this machine on several occasions and had the chance to shoot a video demo of my experience.

While not fully automatic, several electric components make this machine fast. This includes a fully electric paper punch (4:1 pitch hole pattern) and an electric coil inserter. Combined, book binding takes just minutes. The 4:1 pitch hole pattern can be used to bind books as thick as 1 ¼”, which is about 230 sheets of paper. An included foot pedal allows for two-handed operation.

The build quality on the Akiles CoilMac-EPI is extremely high. The thing feels like it weighs a ton. While it really only weighs 80 pounds shipped, the all-metal construction makes it feel like one of the most solid pieces of equipment I have ever used. Here is a video demo of me using it.

While not featured in this video, the CoilMac-EPI is also available in a variation called the CoilMac-EPI Plus. The only difference between the standard model and the Plus model is the hole design and the disengageable dies. The Plus uses oval holes, rather than round, and has fully disengageable dies where the standard model only has 5 disengageable dies. Other than that, they are pretty much the same machine and this video demo can really be used for both machines.

I highly recommend the Akiles CoilMac-EPI for medium to higher-volume binding. It is a solid machine, and simply put, it will last for years. You can find the Akiles CoilMac-EPI here and our entire selection of coil binding machines here.

ABC440 Electric Coin Counter & Sorter Video Demo

ABC440 Electric Coin Counter & SorterAre you looking for a coin counting and sorting machine that will allow you to simply dump in a bunch of coins and let it do the rest? If so, you may want to consider a machine like the ABC440 coin counting and sorting machine. This machine is simple to use, fast in operation and I have personally used it on many occasions. I had the opportunity to help shoot a video demo of this coin counter.

To begin with, I have to say that my initial impressions were pretty high. At first glance, you might think that you’re dealing with an Accubanker AB410. Other than the lower price of the ABC440, they are pretty much the same machine. I would have to say that I would rate the ABC440 for light to medium-volume use.

You can place up to 300 coins in the hopper of this machine. It will quickly sort through those coins at a speed of up to 600 coins a minute. Supported denominations include pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar coins. The digital display will give you a running total of total coins counted or dollar value of coins counted.

Here is the actual video demo we shot of the ABC440. While it is a few years old, you will certainly get a good idea as to how it works.

Intelli-Bind IM1000 Electric Binding Punch Video Demo

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Intelli-Bind IM1000 Electric Binding PunchWhile manually punching paper isn’t that bad, it can become tiresome when done on a large scale. If you are punching hundreds of sheets of paper per day, you may want to consider using a machine like the Intelli-Bind IM1000 electric binding punch. I recently had a chance to play around with this machine and shoot a video demo.

A question I often get is, “Why would I want a binding punch?” That’s a good question. The best answer I can provide is “volume.” Using an independent binding punch, along side an existing binding machine, can dramatically increase your punching capacity and output book binding volume.

The Intelli-Bind IM1000 is available upon purchase with your choice of punching die. This may be comb, wire, coil or coil in your choice of pitch. Other dies can be purchased. Because the dies are interchangeable, the Intelli-Bind IM1000 can easily be used along side just about any comb, wire or coil binding machine.

I was surprised how easy the IM1000 was to use. An included foot pedal makes hands free punching easy. If you don’t like using a foot pedal, you can also activate the electric punch by pushing a button found on the front of the machine.

The IM1000 is rated for punching up to 25 sheets of paper. I decided to put that to the test and it worked great. You can see a video demo of me using the Intelli-Bind IM1000 electric binding punch here.

Intelli-Bind 910 Comb, Coil & Wire Binding Station Video Demo

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Intelli-Bind 910 Wire, Comb & Coil Binding StationThere are several tips and tricks out there for speeding up binding operations, but one tool that seems to speed up the process the most is using an independent binding station. These stations may be a comb opener, a wire closer, an electric coil inserter or a combination of all three. The Intelli-Bind 910 binding station, from Intelli-Zone, features all three.

I have personally used this machine and have to say that I’m impressed with just how easy it is to use. I especially like the fact that it can be used alongside a comb, wire or coil binding machine. The build quality is great!

The wire closer is located on the back of the machine, the comb opener is in the middle and the electric coil inserter is located on the front. Using this binding station, along side a binding machine, can easily double your binding output.

Here is a great video demonstration of the Intelli-Bin 910 binding station.

Pretty slick….right? This triple format binding station costs less than most single-purpose binding stations. You can find the Intelli-Bind 910 binding station here and our entire selection of binding machines here.

Akiles WireMac 2:1 / 3:1 Wire Binding Machine Video Demo

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Akiles WireMac 2:1 / 3:1 Wire Binding MachineWhen people ask me which manual wire binding machine I prefer to use above all others, I have to answer back with the Akiles WireMac. This machine, although several years old now, continues to be one of the most solid and reliable wire binding machines around. It is solid, easy to use and the end results are highly professional. Here are a few other reasons why I like this machine.

To begin with, the machine has truly been built from the ground up for the sole purpose of durability. It is heavy, weighing in at a solid 45 pounds. The handles are metal, the dies are metal, the gears are metal and the housing is die cast metal.

Because the Akiles WireMac is so incredibly solid, punching and binding on it is a piece of cake. It is available in either a 2:1 pitch or a 3:1 pitch hole pattern. The hole pattern you use really depends purely on your preference. The reports it produces look just as good as anything a professional copy center could make.

While I could continue to go on about this machine, this video demonstration will probably do a better job of helping you familiarize yourself with the Akiles WireMac. Enjoy!

GBC VeloBind System 3 Pro Video Demo

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

GBC VeloBind System 3 Pro Binding MachineVeloBind by GBC is a solid method of binding a book. Something as simple as an 11-prong strip can provide one of the most durable and solid book binding formats around. VeloBind is durable, can bind a whole lot of paper and is tamper proof. Best of all, VeloBind is extremely professional, being frequently used for binding reports, presentations and more.

I have found, over the last 10 years, that VeloBind machines are extremely popular for use with very thin presentations or extremely thick binding of records. You will often see lawyers’ offices and construction companies using VeloBind machines. The VeloBind System 3 Pro can bind a massive 3” of paper at a time. I can’t think of any other “element” style binding machines with that thick a binding capacity.

The build quality of the VeloBind System 3 is excellent. We have a model on our showroom floor that we used for years without any issues. In fact, I did a video demonstration of that machine several years ago. You will probably notice that the machine featured in the demo uses the older “cream” color scheme with the modern version featuring black elements. The machine itself is still the same.

ABC110 Coin Counter & Sorter Video Demo

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

ABC110 Coin Counter & SorterCounting coins by hand, as you might imagine, can take a lot of time. If you’re like me, it will probably take a couple of attempts as well. Speed and error issues makes manual coin counting extremely inefficient. Coin counting machines, like the ABC110 coin counter & sorter, makes counting quick and accurate. I have personally used the ABC110 on several of occasions and have to say that I’m impressed.

I remember as a child getting a coin sorter for Christmas. Yes, I actually asked for one. It wasn’t an electric coin sorter, but rather a gravity coin sorter. You put the coin at the top of the sorter and watched it make its way down, bouncing back and forth until it ultimately dropped into the correct bin. While fun, this isn’t an efficient way to sort or count coins. Unfortunately, many of the coin counters and sorters you find at local department stores operate in a similar way and are simply not meant for commercial use.

The ABC110 means business. The hopper along can hold up to 1,600 dimes. If you have a drawer, a bag or a jar of coins, just dump them into the top and turn the machine on. It will begin to quickly and efficiently count and sort coins. The ABC110 is packed with features, and all for an affordable low price.

Akiles VersaMac Modular Binding Punch Video Demo

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Akiles VersaMac Modular Book Binding PunchThe Akiles VersaMac book binding punch is arguably one of the best electric binding punches available today. It feature a wide array of interchangeable dies, a durable build construction and is perfect for high-volume and commercial book binding. Punching can be done by manually pushing a button or by using the included foot pedal.

One of my personal favorite features of the VersaMac is the vertical punch. Unlike a horizontal punch, the vertical punch uses gravity to naturally keep sheet edges aligned, allowing for a professional punch every time. This is especially nice for high-volume book binding.

The interchangeable dies are extremely easy to slide in and out. Available dies include comb, wire, coil, velo and much more in a wide variety of pitches and hole patterns.

I could go on and on about the metal build construction and the hardened punching dies, but this video will probably do a better job explaining all this visually. Enjoy!

Minipack Galaxy Shrink Wrap Machine Video Demo

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Minipack Galaxy Shrink Wrap MachineOne of my favorite all-in-one shrink wrap machines is the Minipack Galaxy. It is easy to use and literally takes just seconds from start to finish. This machine can be used to package CDs, DVDs, gift baskets, pizzas, soap and much more.

Basically all you need to do is take the product you are packaging, place it in the film and pull down the hood. The hood will cut the film around the product and then envelope the plastic in hot air, shrinking the film. The end results are extremely professional and are perfect for transportation, presentation and retail sale.

I would go into more detail on how to use the machine, but this video will probably do more in 6 minutes than I could explain in 6 pages. Enjoy!
