Carnation CR1 Bank-Grade Bill Counter Review

Tuesday, February 18th, 2014

Carnation CR1 Bank-Grade Bill CounterCounting bills with high rates of speed and accuracy are must-have features in any bill counter, especially when it comes to professional businesses like banks, credit unions, casinos and other businesses that handle large volumes of money on a daily basis. One model that we recently added to our site, and has since become a best seller, is the Carnation CR1 bill counter (found here). I would like to point out a few reasons why this may be a good fit for you.

Carnation has been making bill counters for several years and we have found their product line not only to be solid, but Carnation has an amazing warranty and impeccable reputation. As of this article Carnation offers about seven different models including battery-powered bill counters and mixed denomination counters. The CR1 is one of their flagship models.

The CR1 bill counter is a machine designed to provide you with a total quantity of bills. It will not distinguish the difference in value. If you need not only the total amount of bills, but the value as well, you will need a mixed bill counter (aka currency discriminator) like the Carnation CR3 (found here). This means if you put in 87 bills into the CR1, it will provide you with a total number of 87….not the dollar value. Most people are fine with this as bills are already pre sorted.

The Carnation CR1 is fast, capable of counting bills at speeds of up to 1,000 per minute. The feeder will hold up to 400 new bills, which is a fairly high capacity as most comparable models only hold up to 200. While it works great with USD (US Dollars), it can also be used with Canadian Dollars, Euros, Mexican Pesos and other currencies.

Here is a short video of the CR1 in use:

This particular bill counter will allow for standard counting, adding and batch counting. The adding feature lets you continue to add more and more stacks while the bill counter maintains a running total. The batch feature lets you tell the bill counter to stop after counting a pre-determined quantity. This is excellent for sorting and organizing counted bills.

One thing I personally like about the CR1 is the triple protection counterfeit system. This bill counter will use ultraviolet (UV), magnetic (MG) and infrared (IR) detection to quickly verify the authenticity of bills. This is excellent for real-time verification or simply to ensure the stacks of bills being counted are real. If a counterfeit is detected, the machine will stop and notify the operator.

The CR1 is designed to be used on a daily basis, hence the name bank-grade that the manufacturer tagged onto the name of the machine. It is fast, user-friendly and modern. It is excellent for use out on the sales counter or in the back of the office. It is highly professional and extremely robust.

Carnation CR3 Mixed Bill Counter Video Demo

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013

Carnation CR3Bill counters are useful tools for any business or organization that handles or counts bills on a regular basis. One thing people don’t realize is that bill counters and mixed bill counters (found here) are very different in functionality. One type of machine only provides you with a total quantity, where the other provides you with a total value. I would like to show you one of our most popular mixed bill counters, the Carnation CR3 (found here).

As mentioned earlier, bill counters provide you with a total number of bills counted. This means if you put in 125 bills, it will tell you 125 on the screen. No value will be given. If you need the value of the bill, you need what’s known as a mixed bill counter (aka currency discriminator). These machines can provide you with the total quantity, but will also provide you with the total value, often including how many of each type of bill are in the stack.

The Carnation CR3 is by far one of our most popular mixed bill counters. This is because it is extremely accurate and affordable (considering what it does). This mixed bill counter operates much like a standard bill counter. It has a feed hopper and a stacker. You put the bills in the top of the machine and they come out the bottom. The CR3 counts bills at a speed of 500 to 1,100 per minute (variable speed).

Here is a video of the Carnation CR3 in use:

You’ll notice that the $5,000 in cash is counted multiple times. This is to prove just how accurate it is. This bill counter won’t flub up the numbers or provide slightly different results. It is extremely accurate, which is what you need in a business that handles a lot of money.

This video goes into even more detail as to the functions you’ll find in the mixed bill counter:

The CR3 includes many features you find in a standard bill counter. This includes the ability to batch count, add and more. It can even be set up to help sort the bills. This is done by the operator specifying the desired denominational value. The machine will stop when a different denomination is detected.

Who uses this bill counter? We have customers from banks, credit unions, casinos, schools, restaurants and other organizations that regularly handle money.

While the functionality and accuracy are amazing, I also really like the fact that this machine incorporates counterfeit detection into the counting process. The CR3 uses UV (ultraviolet), MG (magnetic) and IR (infrared) detection. This means the bills are scanned while the bills are counted. If a counterfeit banknote is detected, the machine will automatically stop and notify the operator.

Considering what this mixed currency counter does, it is remarkably compact. It even has a built in handle that makes it easy to pick up and move around the office. It weighs in at just over 16 pounds, which is extremely manageable.

I hope you enjoyed these videos. I think they really help convey just how nice this bill counter is. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-658-8788. You can find our entire selection of bill counters and currency discriminators here.

Carnation CR2 Money Counter Review

Thursday, February 7th, 2013

Carnation CR2 Money CounterFast, effective and accurate are all words that can be used to describe most money counters (found here). You put a stack of bills in the hopper and in seconds the entire stack is counted. At ABC Office we offer a wide variety of money counters from brands such as Intelli-Count, Cassida, Semacon, Magner and others. We recently added a new brand to our site by Carnation and I will be reviewing the Carnation CR2 money counter (found here) in this article.

When it comes to money counting machines, many of them look like clones of each other and there aren’t usually many features that make them unique from each other. We are always looking for new and unique products to add to our site. The Carnation CR2 has many unique features that set it apart from other machines.

To begin with, the Carnation CR2 is an industrial level machine, meaning it can be used with larger organizations such as banks, credit unions and casinos. It features a variable speed control that allows it to operate at speeds ranging from 800-1500 bills a minute. At 1500 bills per minute, this is one of the fastest money counters on the market.

Another feature I really like about the CR2 is the large feeder and carrier. Most money counters feature a feeding hopper that holds around 200 new or 100 used bills. This machine has a feeder with a capacity of 400 new bills, which is pretty large. This means you don’t have to load it as frequently, which results in you getting more done in a shorter period of time.

Over the years the problem of counterfeit bills has continued to grow with the improvements in printing and copying technology. The CR2 is equipped with counterfeit detection capabilities. It uses three different technologies to do this. These are ultraviolet (UV), magnetic (MG) and Infrared (IR). Using these built in counterfeit detection tools, it can scan bills on the fly and quickly determine if they are real or fake. In the event that a counterfeit bill is detected, the CR2 will stop and notify the operator.

The CR2 can also be set up for various counting functions. It can be used to count the bills in a stack, count them and add them to additional stacks and it can be used for batch counting. Batch counting is especially nice for sorting, organizing and storing bills. The feeder can be used to count US currency, but also works with Canadian bills, Euros and currencies from other countries.

Another cool feature of the Carnation CR2 is the control panel. I have used a lot of money counters since working at ABC Office and I can safely say I have never seen one with a touch screen control panel. The CR2 is equipped with a touch screen control that is extremely easy to navigate. Data, such as counted bills, is shown on the left screen.

One thing you should be aware of is that the CR2 does not distinguish the difference between different denominations. This means it will provide you with a total number of bills counted, but not the total value. If you need a bill counter that will count and provide the value, you will need to go with something like the Carnation CR3 mixed bill counter (found here).

In conclusion, the CR2 is one of the most robust machines we offer for higher-end money counting. It features a nice one-year warranty and includes pretty much every feature you could want in a money counter that doesn’t distinguish denominations. Carnation CR3 Mixed Bill Currency Discriminator & Counter Review

Monday, November 19th, 2012

Carnation CR3 Mixed Bill CounterHave you ever wanted a machine that not only counted bills, but also provided you with the total dollar value of the stack? Most money counting machines can’t do this. You usually have to settle with the total number of bills. While this is adequate for most businesses, some need the ability for a machine to count and add mixed bills. One of the best mixed bill counters is the Carnation CR3 (found here).

Many businesses and retail stores deal with cash registers that have pre-sorted drawers for different denominations of bills. In those situations, a standard money counting machine is more than adequate. In those situations, however, where bills are not pre-sorted, trying to determine how much money is at hand can be a task in and of itself. This is where the Carnation CR3 finds its mark. Take your stack of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills and throw them all in the hopper.

The hopper on this machine has a 200-bill capacity. Simply put your bills in, tell the machine what you want done and let it start pulling through the bills. A bright LCD screen on the left side of the machine will then begin to display data from the count with a total piece and a total value. While this counter does a great job of totaling bill amounts, it also isn’t a half bad machine. This machine can be set up for batch counting, adding multiple stacks and much more.

The Carnation CR3 mixed denomination currency value counter is often found in banks, casinos and credit unions. It features a tabletop design, allowing it to be easily placed on any table, desk or counter. The motor itself runs at a fast 500 to 1100 bank notes per minute. In comparison with other “standard” money counters, this is right on par with other machines out there. When compared to other currency discriminators out there, the CR3 is easily one of the most affordably priced.

Not only does it count bills, but it also features counterfeit detection technology. This is a must-have feature for banks, casinos and businesses. As the bills are run through the CR3, it scans them using UV (Ultraviolet), MG (Magnetic) and IR (Infrared) technology. If a fake bill is detected, the Carnation CR3 will immediately stop and notify the operator. This can be a huge money saver and can ultimately save thousands of dollars.

So is this a machine you may want to consider in your own office? If you don’t need the dollar value to be added up, you may want to consider using a standard bill counter. This isn’t because the CR3 is a bad machine, but a standard money counter (which provides total quantity amounts) is a lot less money. If you do need the total value of a stack, this is the best option available and it is literally thousands of dollars less than comparable machines.
