Pyramid Technologies (PTI) Time Trax Bio Review

PTI Time Trax Bio Employee Time ClockFinding a good, reliable employee time clock can be tough. There is a lot of cheap stuff out there and you need something that is going to last for years. One popular brand that a lot of people are using is Pyramid Technologies (PTI). One of their most popular models is the PTI Time Trax Bio (found here). Here is my review.

To begin with, the Tim Trax Bio is a biometric time clock that uses your finger to punch in and out of work. The employee has to be first set up with the time clock. This involves sliding a finger over the finger scanner. Once a name is associated with the finger scan, that employee can begin using the time clock.

So why use a biometric time clock? The biggest reason is convenience. They don’t require any special PVC ID cards or punch cards. All you need is your finger, and most people remember to bring that to work. There is no need to print replacement cards and buddy punching is pretty much eliminated.

We actually use this particular model for tracking employee time here at ABC Office. We have been using it for over two years now and we all enjoy it. It is very convenient, I don’t have to bother with a punch card and there is no need to carry around a separate ID card. The entire process is simple.

The time clock itself hooks up to a computer. Our accounting department is able to export the logged data from the time clock and use it for payroll purposes. It is very easy to do and “time worked” reports are very easy to generate. The Time Trax Bio can export data for use with ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, Excel, and more.

The time clock can either be used on a flat surface (which is what we do) or be mounted to a wall. It is also available in a Serial/USB or an Ethernet version. The entire time clock is very small and compact.

Overall I enjoy using the Time Trax Bio and highly recommend it for use in just about any office or business. You will find the PTI Time Trax Bio here. You can find our entire selection of employee time clocks here.

I suppose that should come as no surprise. Quickbooks from Intuit is one of the most popular accounting software programs used today. If you’re looking for a Quickbooks compatible time clock, you’ve come to the right place.

The way most of our Quickbooks compatible time clocks work is they export the data into a Quickbooks compatible format. This data can then be imported into Quickbooks and be used for payroll purposes. Many of our digital and computer-based time clocks are capable of doing this.

Here are five of our time clocks that are Quickbooks compatible:

Best Employee Time Clocks – Useful Tips

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Employee Time ClocksFinding a good employee time clock is tough. You certainly want to get the most out of your dollar, but at the same time you don’t want an employee time clock that is cheap. You also need to find a time clock that can do everything you need it to do. Time clocks, after all, are designed to save you time. Getting a time clock that doesn’t do all you need will cost you time in the long run.

Here is a list of the most common feature you may want to look for in a time clock.

Type of Employee Time Clock – Employee time clocks come in several formats. The most popular types of time clocks are punch card, card swipe, digital keypad and biometric time clocks. There is also the option of using time clock software that can be installed on a computer.

Compatibility – If you use payroll software, you may want to use a digital time clock that has the ability to export data for use with popular payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, Excel and more.

Data Storage – If you are using a digital employee time clock, do you want to use it with a computer or as a stand-alone clock? Some digital time clocks have to be interfaced with a computer via a network or USB cable. Others can be used with a computer or as a stand-alone that can later export the data.

Number of Employees – How many employees will be using your time clock? Punch-style time clocks can be used with a variety of employees, but digital time clocks that are used with a computer or software are often limited to a certain number of employees with the option of upgrading to more later down the road.

Location – Where would you like to use your time clock? Card punch time clocks can be used almost anywhere. Digital time clocks, such as keypad, biometric and card swipe, may need to be linked to a computer or network. Some time clocks sit on a desktop while others are wall mounted. These are all things to take into consideration prior to purchasing an employee time clock.

Top Seven Best Employee Time Clocks / Time Clock Reviews

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Time clocks are a critical part of properly running any business. Keeping track of time worked on paper just doesn’t cut it anymore. Unfortunately not all employees are honest and cheating the system, if not properly monitored, can happen.

The honor system isn’t an option anymore and writing down hours on paper leaves too much room open for manipulation. Buddy punching can also be an issue for many businesses, where one employee punches in and out for another employee. Which time clocks are the best for cutting down on fraud and saving your business money?

While traditional punch-style time clocks are still an option, they are best used for small businesses. A more automated system is required for medium to large-size businesses. It isn’t a bad idea for small businesses to use automated systems either. Many automated and digital time clock systems can export data to payroll programs, such as Quickbooks, saving your business even more time and money.

We have compiled a list of the most secure, easy-to-use and popular time clocks being purchased by our customers today.

1. Pyramid PTI Time Trax EZ – This time clock system uses personalized encoded PVC cards to log in and out of work. Software keeps track of this time and creates reports. Data can also be exported for use with payroll software.
2. Pyramid PTI Time Trax Bio – This time clock lets the employee sign in and out of work with their finger. It is easy to set up, creates reports with included software and exports data for use with payroll software.
3. AcroPrint ATRx – The Acroprint ATRx runs on a computer, but utilizes a biometric finger scanner (plugged in a USB port) for signing in and out of work. This cuts out buddy punching and is very efficient.
4. Pyramid PTI Time Trax Pro – This time clock uses a magnetic strip PVC card to sign in and out of work. It includes easy-to-use software that makes keeping track of employee time easy. Data can be exported for use with payroll software. It can be used with up to 9,999 employees (upgraded).
5. Widmer Ceres iPC – Great for small to medium-size businesses, this system uses a key fob, which can be attached to a key ring, to punch in and out of work. This system is one of the easiest to set up and includes software for tracking employee time.
6. Acroprint Handpunch 1000 Biometric – This time clock allows employees to sign in and out of work by using their hand. This unique time clock system cuts down on fraud while keeping track of employee time worked.
